The Federal Republic of Nigeria is generally regarded as "the giant of Africa" by virtue of its size, population and natural endowments. It is located in the extreme part of West Africa and shares boundaries with Chad Republic, Cameroun and Benin Republic. Nigeria's population is approximately 177 million people.

The nation, a former British colony regained political Independence on Oct. 1, 1960. Nigeria operates a presidential system. It has a three tier structure of government- the Federal, State and Local Government. It is a country of 36 states with Abuja FCT(Federal Capital Territory) as capital and 774 Local Government Areas.

The Nigerian National Flag is divided vertically into three equal parts. The central part is white while the two other equal parts are green.
