VISA SERVICES

Payment for Nigerian visas (all categories of visas) MUST be made online at the Nigerian Immigration Service web portal www.immigration.gov.ng. (Note that the Visa Application form is accessible on the immigration portal). Cash payments are not accepted for visa and only applications accompanied with evidence of payment will be processed. Please note that visa and  fees are non-refundable. Visa applicants may be required to come for interview at the discretion of the consular officer.

 

For all enquiries relating to Consular matters (passports, Emergency Travel Certificates (ETC), visas and other immigration issues), please call 213031290 on Mondays to Fridays from 10:00am to 4:00pm, except on Nigerian and Portuguese public holidays.

 

General Requirements

All visitors are required to have a valid visa to enter into Nigeria except for citizens of countries belonging to the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS). Applicants are required to send a duly completed visa application form, proof of payment.

 

Immigration

Citizens of the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) do not require entry permits into Nigeria. However, all visitors not exempted from entry permits are advised to apply and obtain appropriate visas from the nearest Embassy, High Commission or Consulate before entry into Nigeria, as visas will not be issued at the port of entry. Early application is advisable to avoid delays.

 

Vaccination

Health authorities recommend vaccination against cholera and yellow fever from all visitors. Anti-malaria vaccination is also recommended.

 

Handling Time for Visa Application

The visa section of the Embassy handles visa applications only on Mondays & Wednesdays. Submission of visa applications is on Mondays (10h30-12h00) & Wednesdays (11h00-12h30). The visa application submission can be made in person or with a letter authorizing a 3rd person to submit on behalf of the applicant. The collection of all processed visas and other documents is communicated to the applicant with exception on Nigerian and Portuguese public holidays.  All applicants MUST appear in person for all categories of visa interviews. The visa application handling time is five (5) working days but may vary without prior notice.

 

Note: Visa application forms that are not fully completed, signed and dated, or with incomplete requirements and supporting documents, will not be handled. Payments made are non-refundable.

 

TYPES OF VISA/ENTRY PERMIT

Nigerian visas are obtained at the Nigerian Missions in the countries where applicants are domiciled or the nearest Nigerian Mission to their countries of residence. Visitors are advised to confirm the purpose of their journey as visas are linked to the purpose of the journey. Visitors can apply for ;

 

PROCEDURE ON APPLYING FOR A VISA

 

  1. Step 1: Apply online

         Complete the online visa application on https://portal.immigration.gov.ng and print completed form.

 

  1. Step 2: Pay online and print payment receipt.

 

  1. Step 3: Affix 2 passport sized (35/40 mm) passport photographs with white background.

 

  1. Step 4: Mail application or proceed with the completed form to the Embassy/High Commission for submission with attached requirements.

 

Note: Applicant may be invited for an interview if necessary .
